Dehradun : Due to the recent disaster in the state, some colleges located in rural and mountainous areas, such as Prem Nagar, Paunda, Selaqui, etc., have suffered significant damage due to heavy rainfall, and in some areas, students’ studies are still being disrupted. At this time, the prestigious GRD Institute of Management and Technology, Rajpur Road, Dehradun, located in the urban area of Dehradun, has provided free alternative accommodation for students from disaster-affected colleges on its campus.
Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chairman of GRD College, stated that free education has been arranged for students from disaster-affected colleges on the GRD campus. Students from disaster-affected colleges can, with permission from their principals, attend classes at the institute for free, and also utilize the library and labs available on campus.
Director General Dr. Pankaj Chaudhary stated that during the months of August and September, Uttarakhand experienced numerous incidents of heavy rain, flash floods and landslides, causing significant damage to many colleges and universities and disrupting the education of students. In such difficult times, the college management has taken a commendable decision. Any students affected by the disaster who wish to continue their studies can, with written permission from their college principal, continue studying at GRD until the situation in their college returns to normal.
